Allied For Startups at a High-Level Conference on the 28th European Company Regime by the Permanent Representation of France to the EU

Earlier this week, our Head of Policy, Vasco Pereira da Silva, had the opportunity to speak at a high-level conference on the 28th European company regime, organised by the Permanent Representation of France to the European Union. He took part in the panel “The 28th Regime – What Benefits? What Impact?”, alongside:

  • Didier Martin, Partner, Bredin-Prat – Member of the Legal High Committee for the Paris Financial Market
  • Pedro Oliveira, Director for Legal Affairs, BusinessEurope
  • MEP Pascal Canfin, Renew Europe
  • Charles Sarrazin, Deputy Head of the Economic and Financial Unit, Permanent Representation of France to the EU (moderator)

Together, they explored the potential implications of the upcoming proposal on entrepreneurs and the broader business ecosystem.

During his intervention, Vasco explained how the 28th regime would create one legal identity and framework for entrepreneurs across the EU, fixing the scale-up problem by increasing speed, investment, and talent retention. He argued that keeping national elements would defeat the purpose of the proposal – Europe needs a bold, unified solution to restore competitiveness and allow founders to succeed at home.

The event also featured insights from other distinguished speakers, including Ana Gallego, Director-General at DG JUST, Claire Cheremetinski, Deputy Director-General – French Treasury, and Martin Guesdon, Deputy Assistant Secretary at the French Ministry of Justice.

We were also proud to see contributions from key ecosystem voices, including Franziska Teubert from our member organisation Startup Verband, and Robin Wauters representing the EU-INC movement. A special mention goes to Philippe Notton, CEO and Founder of SiPearl, who brought rare clarity to the challenges a startup faces when trying to scale in Europe.

A warm thank you to the Permanent Representation of France to the EU for the kind invitation and opportunity, in particular to Emmanuel Massé and Clara Paoloni, and to all speakers for their valuable contributions.
