Allied For Startups at the First-Ever Policy Lounge at TechBBQ

On 27 August, our President, Simon Schaefer, participated in the opening panel of the first-ever Policy Lounge at TechBBQ, hosted by our member Danish Entrepreneurs.

On stage with Members of the European Parliament Arba Kokalari (European People’s Party), Kira Marie Peter-Hansen (The Greens/EFA), Morten Løkkegaard (Renew Europe), and Niels Flemming Hansen (European People’s Party), he stressed that Europe is falling behind in terms of competitiveness.

Fragmented regulatory frameworks are holding founders back. What is required is a coherent, unified framework – the 28th regime – alongside stronger access to funding and a system that learns from the current challenges faced by startups. If Europe truly aims to establish a Single Market and deliver on its startup ambitions, it must adopt a regulation rather than a directive. This is the only way to ensure uniform rules and provide founders with the certainty they need to scale.

The Policy Lounge also included an Innovation Talk, “Disrupting Europe – Building Trillion Euro Companies,” with our Board Member Lucien Burm, as well as panel discussions featuring representatives from several of our member organisations.

Congratulations to Danish Entrepreneurs and TechBBQ for hosting this successful initiative, and our thanks to all who participated, including our members from SISP, Dutch Startup Association, Startup Valencia, Startup Portugal, France Digitale, Latitude59, and Scale-ups.be.
