A Global AI Video Leader, Synthesia, Partners with Allied For Startups to Strengthen Europe’s Innovation Ecosystem

[Brussels, 9 March] Allied For Startups and Synthesia are pleased to announce a new partnership. Together, they will work to strengthen Europe’s startup and innovation ecosystem, ensuring startups and scale-ups can access the regulatory clarity, talent, and infrastructure needed to grow and compete globally.

Founded in 2017, Synthesia is the world’s largest AI video platform for business. It was co-founded by Victor Riparbelli (CEO), Steffen Tjerrild (COO), Prof. Matt Niessner, and Prof. Lourdes Agapito – AI researchers and entrepreneurs from Stanford, UCL, and TU Munich.

The company’s mission is to help people work better. It empowers organisations to create AI-generated videos with 240+ avatars and in 140+ languages –  streamlining training, onboarding, and communication while saving up to 80% of time and budget. It is trusted by 1M+ users and over 65,000 companies worldwide – such as Sky Italia, Heineken, SAP, Bosch, Merck KGaA, and Siemens – including more than 90% of CAC 40, DAX 40 and Fortune 100 companies.

Recently, Synthesia raised a $200 million Series E round, valuing the company at $4 billion, and marking a significant new chapter in its growth. The company will build on its AI video platform with enhanced visual communication tools, AI agents, and enterprise products designed to help organisations upskill their workforce and leverage AI effectively.

Asked about the partnership, Alessandra Venier, Corporate Affairs Manager at Synthesia, said: “Europe has a strong tradition of combining world-class research with entrepreneurial ambition. At Synthesia, we are building technology that is used globally but grounded in European values. Partnering with Allied For Startups is important to us because we want to help ensure Europe remains a place where companies like ours can scale, compete globally, and engage constructively in policy conversations around AI and innovation.”

Serena Borbotti-Frison, Director-General of Allied For Startups, said: “Synthesia is a great example of what Europe can produce. Four founders, from Denmark, Spain, and Germany, bringing together global expertise and tapping into the strong UK ecosystem to build a truly world-class company. Just imagine what Europe could produce more regularly if the structural barriers were gone.”

Through this collaboration, Allied For Startups and Synthesia will work together to promote policies that support AI uptake, public procurement, skills and reducing regulatory fragmentation.
