      A self-starter, independent, motivated and tech-savvy individual, who wants to kick-start their career in the digital policy space & advocacy. As our communications and advocacy officer, your main tasks will be to build bridges between policy makers, startups, and industry, thereby setting the scene and building the backbone of impactful policy campaigns through research and writing, and building connections. Ideally, the candidate has first-hand experience in the Brussels policy space, specifically in tech and digital policy and a curiosity for startups and innovation. We are looking for someone who is curious, has a positive and can-do attitude while demonstrating a sense of political acumen, humour, and team spirit! 

      About us

      Allied for Startups is the voice of startups in policy and government. We represent over 46 European and global startup associations (BESCO, Startup Canada, Startup Malaysia), making their voice heard in international organisations and governments. Our fields of work include digital policies and startup-relevant topics such as platform governance, data, artificial intelligence, and digital health.

      About the position

      The position consists of a  12-month  Fellowship (Convention d’immersion professionnelle) with the possibility of extension. Your main responsibilities will be to coordinate the communications activities, develop a social media strategy and manage AFS’ social media accounts, content creation and visuals. In addition, you will support the policy team in monitoring policy that affects tech startups.

      The ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:

      – Be a self-starting policy communications enthusiast;
      – An independent & creative thinker;
      – Excellent language skills in English;
      – Emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills are a must;
      – Knowledge and understanding of the European policy decision-making process;
      – Previous experience in communications and advocacy is a plus;
      – Demonstrates skills to lead organisational and administrative tasks;
      – Hold a bachelors’ degree;
      – Must be an EU national.

      Main duties and responsibilities:

      – Coordinate and run the communications and advocacy activities, create content and develop a social media strategy;
      – Contribute to further positioning and advocacy efforts, such as campaigns;
      – Play a proactive role in everyday operations and logistics.
