interinstitutional agreement

[Brussels, 21 February] We welcome today’s endorsement of the interinstitutional agreement on fairness and transparency in platform-to-business relations.

The swift adoption by co-legislators shows that the European Union is dedicated to improve the functioning of the Digital Single Market and the conditions therein. Lenard Koschwitz, Senior Director Global Public Policy states:  “We are pleased that the negotiators have taken the diversity of the platform economy largely into account and have chosen to pursue a principle-based approach.”

Koschwitz adds: “Europe’s platform economy consists of thousands of highly diverse startups, intermediaries and businesses. Marketplaces, platforms and communities will continuously evolve and provide more sophisticated products and services to consumers, solving increasingly complex problems. We’re excited about the future of startup platforms in Europe and will pursue an open and constructive dialogue with EU Institutions and decision makers.”
