[Brussels, 15 June 2020, contact: [email protected]] Allied for Startups welcomes the European Commission’s proposed extension of the State Aid Temporary Framework to support startups in the post-COVID-19 economic recovery.

Speaking about the EU Commission’s statement Benedikt Blomeyer, EU Policy Director at Allied for Startups said “We are pleased that the commission listened to our call and the call of Startups across Europe in response to our requests regarding state aid ”.

The Commission’s third revision of the State Aid Temporary Framework underlines the important role startups can play in the post-COVID-19 economic recovery process. The existing framework for state aid was outdated and not inclusive of startup Communities. The new framework means that they get an equal chance at liquidity as all other companies in the EU”

“While the negotiations with Member States are ongoing, we are heading in the right direction. If we want to look to startups to provide post-COVID-19 growth, we should lend them a hand to get through this crisis today” Blomeyer added.

At Allied for Startups we will continue to fight for startups to receive their fair share in state aid and recover in a COVID-19 world.
