The summit began with an impactful keynote by MEP Aura Salla, who emphasized the need for balanced approaches to innovation and regulation in the EU. Her remarks highlighted priorities like cutting red tape, creating a robust Capital Markets Union to fuel investment, and fostering an environment that attracts global talent to boost Europe’s competitiveness.
Key panels delved deeper into the pressing issues at hand. In one, Ana Barjasic (CONNECTOLOGY), Lucia Bonova (European Commission), and Camilla de Coverly Veale (Startup Coalition) discussed the political momentum building for startups. Their conversation explored the role of the new Startup Commissioner and the impact of initiatives like The EU Inc Petition, setting the stage for a unified and thriving startup ecosystem.
Another engaging session examined the challenges and opportunities in the post-AI Act environment. With expert contributions from Anne-Gabrielle Haie (Steptoe LLP), Gianluca Maruzzella (indigo.ai), and Giacomo Pizza (FIPRA Public Affairs), participants explored how startups can navigate compliance, anticipate future regulations, and leverage initiatives to remain competitive in the evolving AI landscape.
